RICHMOND – Four local organizations in Richmond have received $168,000 in funding from the provincial government through the Community Gaming Grant program.
Organizations receiving grants:
- Richmond Gateway Theatre Society – $84,000 for its Gateway Pacific Festival Program, MainStage Series, Performance Component, Academy for the Performing Arts Program and Studio B Program.
- Richmond Boys Fastball Association – $2,000 for fastball for youth.
- Richmond Swim Club – $37,000 for its Summer Swim Club.
- Richmond Music School Society – $45,000 for its Concert Activities Program and Outreach Violin Classes & Strings Orchestra.
“I’m particularly glad to see a $84,000 grant to the Richmond Gateway Theatre Society,” says Teresa Wat, MLA for Richmond Centre. “The Gateway Theatre has been a powerful means for creative expression and cultural connections in Richmond for over 30 years. This fund will help support the wonderful work of the Society.”
These grants are awarded under the Sport and Arts & Culture categories of the Community Gaming Grant Program, which allows non-profit organizations to apply for provincial gaming revenues from the Ministry of Community, Sport and Cultural Development. Gaming Grants are also awarded in the categories of Public Safety, Environment and Human and Social Services.
